A Family Health Network is a group of family physicians who work together with other health care professionals to provide accessible, coordinated care to their patients and create a better working environment for themselves. A key benefit of FHNs is guaranteed after-hours care made possible by a combination of on-call arrangements and a telephone health advisory service. Participation in a Family Health Network is voluntary for all patients and physicians.

After Hours Access
We know that you or someone in your family could need health care advice any time, day or night. So when your doctor is not available, you can call the Telephone Health Advisory Service (THAS) toll-free 1-866-553-7205. You will be connected to health care professionals, whether it's after hours (5pm-9am) or on weekends or recognized holidays. When you call THAS you'll be connected to a registered nurse who will guide you through an assessment of your health care needs and provide you with detailed care options. If you are an enrolled or registered patient of your doctor's clinic, the nurse can also access your doctor or a colleague to assist if necessary. In an emergency, you should call 911 or go to your local hospital emergency department. If you are a member of our Family Health Network you will be entitled to:
- After hours access to a Telephone Health Advisory Service whose qualified and experienced registered nurses will give you advice or refer you to medical or emergency services if needed.
- A doctor from the Dingwall Medical Group Family Health Network will be on call to the nurses at the Telephone Health Advisory Service.
- Better and more up-to-date information in your medical record. With your permission, your doctor will get a report about your call from the nurses at the Telephone Health Advisory Service, and a report of your visit from your doctor's network colleagues who are providing extended hours coverage.
- Contact the Clinic by Email or fax to leave messages and avoid busy signals.
